Met up for some fun and games at The Mind Cafe --Boat Quay. It was really fun! Played some new games, like settlers, which was actually very fun despite the thinking.
Here are some photos...decided to play more with the white balance and ISO this time---with the intention of giving warmer colours and tones to the photos. Sb-900 fired.
Happy Birthday Mirriam!=) Thank you for the wonderful party. And yes, thank you Joshua, for organizing the games and making sure that we had a good exercise=).
Finally had some free time to build the box of zoids that has been sitting on my table for quite a while. Actually, it wasn't so much a lack of time, but I initially thought it was like those Tamiya sets that needed cement to fix.
I still remember all those millions of model sets that I used to make when I was younger. heh.=P The nicest one I ever made was a bike, which belonged to a friend. He bought the exact model of his bike for keepsake and just needed someone to put it together. He even bought the paint and all those stick-on decals for it. Well, of course, it went back to him in the end.
I also remember that I used to have tons of them on display....like 4 planes, 3 helicopters, a few tanks, 2 ships, lots of cars....and I cant remember what else. Not counting those that were built and thrown away/disappeared=P Sadly, i decided to throw all of them away when i renovated my room. It wasn't so much of a "decision"?=S But it was seriously collecting dust and my attempts in "storing" broke some of them.
Anyway, this box of zoids was given to me by Dr Liem. When it comes to Zoids, he is like the main authority figure=P. You can go to his site to find out more.
In any case, here are some photos of what some spare time on a Sunday afternoon resulted in. I initially followed the instructions but the zoid looked kinda stubby and there were quite a bit of spare parts. So I dismantled it again, rearranged some parts and also added in as many spare parts as I could onto the body. So this is how it looks, slightly taller than what it was intended to be. (Not like any of you would notice/know..haha)
Added in those long black guns at the sides because one thing I realised abt the original zoid was that all the guns only pointed front and back. So I decided to add in some firepower to its sides.
And this is how it looks like when resting=) The guns can fold away like wings. The ball and socket joints are pretty ingenius, I must say.
Shot with an off-shoe flash (positioned from the side and bounced off the wall) with a fill-in flash from my D300 body.
Was reading Lynette's blog (hello Lynette!=)) when I came across her post on this story.....thought i'd copy and paste it here to share.
"... A group of alumni, highly established in their careers, got together to visit their old university professor. Conversation soon turned intocomplaints about stress in work and life.Offering his guests coffee, the professor went to the kitchen and returned with a large pot of coffee and an assortment of cups - porcelain, plastic, glass, crystal, some plain looking, some expensive, some exquisite - telling them to help themselves to the coffee.
When all the students had a cup of coffee in hand, the professor said: 'If you noticed, all the nice looking expensive cups were taken up, leaving behind the plain and cheap ones. While it is normal for you to want only the best for yourselves, that is the source of your problems and stress. Be assured that the cup itself adds no quality to the coffee. In most cases it is just more expensive and in some cases even hides what we drink. What all of you really wanted was coffee, not the cup, but you consciously went for the best cups... And then you began eyeing each other's cups.
Now consider this: Life is the coffee; the jobs, money and position in society are the cups. They are just tools to hold and contain Life, and the type of cup we have does not define, nor change the quality of life we live. Sometimes, by concentrating only on the cup, we fail to enjoy the coffee.Brew the coffee, not the cups . . ..
Enjoy your coffee!'
The happiest people don't have the best of everything. They just make the best of everything.' ..."
Here are some photos from the opening dinner. I didn't take many photos, after all i was a guest this time and not as a photographer.=) So here are some photos of our table of medical students.
Met some nice people and doctors at the pre-dinner reception and during the dinner. The doctors really are quite different and much more approachable/friendly when they are out of the hospital setting!
After which, some of us went for some drinks and chit chat at a club street bar. Was intending to help publicise the place since it's quite new, but i didnt take note of the name. heh.
Once again, some belated photos...=) This time from a dinner at Canale's celebrating zhen zhen's birthday. Will be meeting you guys again later=) So more photos coming up. Still got some photos from the annual scientific congress dinner too.
Have been going full manual with my camera recently, especially when I use flash. Gives better control over the back- and fore-ground light intensities.
In memory of our MRI machine.....=P ( I realised that I didn't take many shots of the MRI machine, and below is one of the clearest shots of it.)
Here are some photos of playhouse 2008. I didn't manage to take any photos of the m4 play itself as I was backstage. However, Christopher Chan has taken some really nice shots, and they are on his flickr account. Meanwhile, here are some photos of our cast and crew rehearsing, backstage and of other batchs' performances.
Alvin Tan....our director!=)
The Cast of M4=)
Our new batch Polo T designed by Celene...which I must say is very nice!
The CREW!
The winning m5 batch=) (If any of you want any photos of better quality, just drop me a tag or email)
The m4 batch.=)=)(taken by someone else...wish it was clearer. But oh well.)
It was a pleasure and honor working with all of you!=)
Just what I needed and wanted=) Not to mention, it is also the first time I had a spa.=)
Thank you=)
After which, we went for some dinner at Dozo. I highly recommend this Japanese restaurant. The food and service there is really really good. It was one of the several restaurants that Liyana shortlisted and allowed me to choose from.=P
I strongly strongly recommend the tenderloin steak! Eat it when it is still medium rare..ie dont leave it on the hot stone for too long=)
Came home to a cheese cake baked by my mum=) Had a nice simple cake cutting with my parents=)
